Some people offer free printables but they’re just not high quality. Here, at Happy Successful Mommy, we always offer top quality. You get to enjoy these printable coloring sheets absolutely free.
It’s so important for us to be grateful in our lives. More and more people are using positive affirmations to express and appreciate what they have. Maybe you already use affirmations in your daily existence. But, have you used coloring affirmations? Time to try it.
By sitting down in your own time and mindfully coloring these free gratitude coloring pages you’ll learn to relax and find your own calm existence.
You can use these coloring pages yourself or for your kids. Many of them are appropriate for kids too. And since there are 20 different pages in the set you can divide them up so everyone gets to choose the ones they like. If everyone wants the same page, that’s okay too. Just print multiple copies of the one you like most.
There are lots of themes and different pictures included in the pages. You get pictures with nature and birds, mountains, sunshine, forests, gifts for abundance and so much more. There’s something for everyone.
If you decide to color one page per day this set will keep you going for almost 3 weeks. That’s a lot of value (especially since you can get them for free – see below!)
Coloring pencils, markers, crayons and more…
Remember to choose your favorite coloring tool. Do you love to use good quality color pencils? Are you a fan of bold markers? And what about those Crayola crayons the kids leave on the kitchen counter? Do you have a favorite coloring tool? Maybe it’s time to mix it up and try something different. I have to admit, those crayons are a real challenge to use when the end has been blunted by the kids. Just be warned…instead of calming the mind, the crayons may challenge it!
Personally, I think it’s worth buying your own coloring tool. I like to have my own packet of pencils separate from the kids stuff. This way I know all the colors are there and none of the pencils will be broken when I want to use them. And I feel a sense of contentment knowing that I use the same pencils that are ready-to-go when I want them (sitting in the kitchen drawer).
But, like I said above, if you feel like it’s time to mix it up then grab something different and get started on your coloring right away.
Have you considered coloring with gel pens? They work great on all types of coloring including fine work.
Who is adult coloring suitable for?
About 3 years ago I was talking to one of the mothers at our elementary school. She was studying Art Therapy and I had no idea that such a thing existed.
It turned out that she herself was suffering from a couple of mental health disorders and had been through years of treatment (some of it quite painful) but during that time one person gave her an adult coloring book to use. She said it was the single most important therapy that had turned her life around.
Because I hadn’t walked in her shoes I found this hard to believe. She said the coloring gave her a sense of peace to stop what was going on in her head. She was so impressed with the results that she made the decision to become an Art Therapist and help others with her work.
For this woman, adult coloring pages had a profound effect on her well-being. This won’t be the same for everyone but at the least, why not give it a go. It’s free (if you download pages here) and it is something you can try at home without involving anyone else. You don’t even need to tell anyone that you’re trying coloring if you don’t want to!
Obviously you don’t need to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder, like the woman I mentioned above, to receive the benefits of coloring. If it appeals to you and helps you to find some quiet time in your day then it’s worth doing.
Different approaches to adult coloring
Some people love the actual process of the coloring. The progress you make starting at the top and moving to the bottom. Or the progress of choosing one color theme and finishing everything in that color palette. I don’t know anything about color therapy but I do know it exists.
You could choose all cool colors if that suits your mood. Or perhaps you want to complete your coloring with warm colors like red, pink and orange if that gives you a boost in your day.
Other people may want to choose a theme, like a watermelon theme where you use pink, green and brown tones throughout your picture. If you’re coloring in December you could choose Christmas colors like red, green and gold. Autumn colors in fall. Or use glitter pens for your entire page to add a lot of sparkle. Personally, I’m a big fan of glitter pens. I think everyone needs a bit more sparkle in their life.
Why choose gratitude coloring pages?
By combining gratitude affirmations with a coloring page you get the best of both worlds. Start to appreciate the daily affirmations and you get to spend time relaxing while coloring.
You can do this activity on your own or with a friend or neighbor. You can also make coloring a special time with your kids if you want to. Perhaps you’ll want to do the gratitude coloring pages with your kids and then choose another set of coloring pages to do on your own. Take a look at these free garden coloring pages if you’re looking for more ideas (they are also high quality and can be used by adults or kids).
